Monday July 19th Surfcasters Report

7/19/2021

Over the past week surfcasters on the Cape have seen the potential of what the Canal can truly hold. Unfortunately, with the change in wind direction, and bait pushing into the bays, the Canal bite has slowed down significantly. Some slot size fish are still being caught in the West End, however the surplus of bigger fish is no longer holding out in the early mornings. Slot fish are being pulled on mainly jigs, while the bluefish are also there to bite the tails off the end of them. I believe with the upcoming full moon on Thursday, the likely hood of these fish pushing back into the Canal is high, so it is definitely worth giving it a shot around that time. I would focus on jigging in the night and plugging in the morning if you see fish on the surface. The past week when fish were hesitant to hit on top, I found slow rolling a 3oz white Al Gag to work extremely well. Good luck to everyone this week and check back Thursday for the next report.
