Monday July 12th Surfcasters Report

7/12/2021

The aftermath of Hurricane Elsa has brought everything surfcasters had hoped and dreamed for this season. Small tinker mackerel (around 6 inches) are scattered across the entire canal, and there is no doubt fish are following them. I have had the chance to get down there for the past 5 days in a row and have not left without catching larger class fish. However, with the fish in the Canal, seals are following close behind so keep an eye out. Larger fish are being pulled in the early morning and late hours into the night, and slot fish are being caught basically throughout the day. In the early morning I have been throwing white or green mackerel Left Hook Pencil Poppers, and jigging 8" Green Mackerel Savage Sandeels once the sun comes up. The fish have been extremely active throughout the entire canal so there really is no bad spot to pick. I hope everyone has a chance to get on some fish while this lasts, although i think this is going to be a common seen for the rest of the year.
