July 23rd Emergency Surfcaster Report

7/23/2022

For the past two mornings bait has been dragged into the west end of the Canal, with larger stripers following close behind. Most of these fish are just above 40 inches, and up to around 30 pounds with some slots mixed in. Jigging has been the best technique for pulling these fish, however subsurface magic swimmers are also a viable option for anglers. Key spots like the Railroad Bridge, Bell Road, and Mass Maritime have been extremely productive at the end of the morning east tide, into the beginning of the west. If you aren't out there fishing, I highly recommend you use this weekend as your opportunity to get on fish before the rain and wind picks up during the week. Tight lines and good luck everyone!(Fish pictured below was 33 inches and harvested legally).
