Friday, July 14th Fishing Report

7/14/2023

After quite the week of Canal blowing up as large class fish blitz on mackerel in the mornings, we have seen a dramatic decline in fishing. Fish during this past week had been crushing topwater pencil poppers and slow rolling rubber fish in the middle of the water column. Although the fishing has slowed down, the Canal is still plentiful with bait like mackerel and butterfish as the strong tides corral them together in schools in key holes along the Canal's rocky bottom. With this weekends break in tides I suspect that the fishing will return to what we just saw over the past week. These tides seem to be setting up a great opportunity for a topwater bite throughout next week. Good luck and tight lines everyone!
