Also, the afternoon bite has been good. Fish have been cruising the shorelines on both sides of the canal. Many fish were caught close to shore with swimming lures such as Sebiles, SP Minnows, and soft plastic swim shads. Fish were reported to be caught on the entire east tide well into the afternoon with reports of 30 pound fish being caught as late as 4 in the afternoon.
The night bite has also been very good with the majority of fish taken on the bottom with jigs. Al Gag's whip it fish, Savages, and buck tails have been the lure of choice for the night jig.
There have also been a handful of bluefish caught in the canal this week. The numbers are not strong, and the occasional blue has been found mixed in with the stripers feasting on the mackerel and sea herring.
