The newest guy to the crew, Jacob, had a very productive week in the canal. Early morning fishing could be tough but there were fish to be had. Most fish were taken on top on larger pencils like the Wally's 3 ounce Pencil and the Guppy Lures Jobo series. If the top water but slowed down, people resorted to swimming lures such as the popular SP Minnow or the Bomber Long Shots. Eel fishing is starting to pick up in the canal and on the beaches, so don't worry if you miss the morning bite!
Tides are good and so is the fishing. Over the past couple days we have weighed in at least 15 fish over 30 lbs. We saw fish over 50 lbs taken, most of which are still swimming. A lot of fish were taken sub surface. Swimmers such as the Sebile's, SP minnows and bomber long shots were most successful. People jigging Savages or other paddle tail style baits caught some large fish as well. The tides remain strong for a few more days so we predict fishing to continue to be good.
