New Moon Produces Big Fish

6/19/2015

Comments

The new moon proved to be successful for fisherman this weekend. The most success has come from jigging the bottom and fishing top water early morning. The colors of choice have been white, green mackerel, and yellow for the top water plugs. People jigging the paddle tails have produced on green and black colors. Get out and fish!

Big fish in Buzzards Bay

6/14/2015

Comments

Fishing in Buzzards Bay lit up this weekend. Plenty of large sea bass caught. The most success came from fishing humps in 30-35 feet of water. Green and silver were the more successful colors on the jig. Squid strips helped when the bite slowed between tides. A lot of Scup were mixed in with the Sea Bass, and even a couple of small Tautog. Striped bass fishing was good as well with a 46.4 pound fish being caught. This fish was in shallow water and caught on top water. Don't assume that fishing deep water always produces the bigger fish!

Tides are turning

The tides have turned and fishing the canal has slowed. We have seen fish early morning at the west end of the canal still breaking on top. White pencils and swimmers have done the best. With the tides getting better for the weekend, we predict a good run of fish through the canal. The weather for the weekend looks good, wind less than 15 mph and mostly sunny. Chance of thunderstorms Saturday evening shouldn't hurt the bite in the morning.

For the boat crowd, race point has picked up significantly. People who brave the weather have caught some good fish out there. Barnstable harbor is stacked with medium sized fish feeding on lots of mackerel. Live lining macks has been producing. Scup and Seabass season is in full swing! We have weighed in a few remarkable Scup, the biggest being an ounce shy of 4 pounds. Sea bass are schooled up nicely, and jigs with squid strips have produced fish up to 6 pounds.

If the wind holds off we should see great fishing from both boat and shore.

Canal is on FIRE!

The pictures speak for themselves. The full moon gave us great tides, and the fish were in. Blitzes all day long, with the most action in the morning. Fish have been taken on all sorts of lures. Stick shads, savages, and anything white! We weighed in many fish today ranging from 20 pounds all the way to just over 40 pounds. The weekend has a forecast for great weather, good tides and great fishing. Most fish were taking between the bridges, although multiple people reported they got fish at both mouths of the canal.

Fishing The Tide Produces

6/1/2015

Comments

Recently we have been experienced good tides in the morning which has produced fish from 28 inches to 36 pounds. We weighed in a few good fish over the weekend. The bigger fish have been taken down deep either on savage sand eels or bucktail jigs. It wasn't uncommon to catch fish early morning on top and subsurface with white pencils and sp minnows. The primary bait around is mackerel with some squid mixed in as well as sand eels in buzzards bay. We have good tides coming up with the full moon so get out and fish!
